The Hollywood Independent Music Awards (HIMA) is gearing up for its second annual ceremony, set for Thursday, July 18th at the Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles.
Music submissions are now open for independent artists, composers, songwriters, record labels, and recording professionals worldwide. The deadline to submit entries for nomination consideration is June 1st at 11:59 PM PST.
The HIMA celebrates independent music’s creative force, recognizing talent across genres and sub-genres. It also shines a light on the often-overlooked “behind the scenes” heroes of the industry with categories for sound mixers, recording engineers, producers, and independent record labels.
Born from the established Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA), the HIMA offers a dedicated platform for independent artists. The inaugural event in 2023 proved a resounding success, with nominees and winners hailing from across the globe.
Attendees at the HIMA gala can expect a star-studded red carpet, live performances, celebrity appearances, and networking opportunities. The week leading up to the ceremony will be packed with “satellite” events, including panels and workshops on songwriting, music licensing, and brand marketing, led by industry professionals.
The HIMA extends its support beyond the awards ceremony. An annual HIMA PLUS membership grants access to a team of music business professionals offering guidance on licensing, marketing, recording, and brand development. The membership platform is currently being revamped to provide even more resources for artists and industry members.
The HIMA also connects artists with live performance opportunities in the Los Angeles area.
Tickets to the Hollywood Independent Music Awards will go on sale in late May.
